Founded in 1998, Gartner Studios is a stationery company headquartered in the historic river town of Stillwater, Minnesota. The main office is the town’s 100-year-old Post Office, and houses a team of unique creative professionals.

About MARA-MI
MARA-MI began as a two-person (Marilyn + Mimi) start-up, with a line of social stationery marketed to independent boutiques and specialty chain stores. The mission is to enhance social connections through lovely, colorful, innovative designs and formats. An acquisition by Gartner Studios, Inc in 2006 allowed MARA-MI to write a new chapter; reaching new customers and expanding their brand into adjacent categories.
The Mara-Mi store+studio+café opened the latter part of July 2010 in historic downtown Stillwater, Minnesota at 201 Main Street South. Here, you will find the largest assortment of MARA-Mi favorites, current and past, along with some of our favorites from Gartner Studios. The Café offers the finest in baked goods including cupcakes, cake pops and fully decorated occasion cakes along with delicious lunch and light dinner options and a selection of beer and wine.

Our philosophy is that good design is not over-design or design for design’s sake, rather pleasing design with loads of functionality. Launched in 2003, when file folders were manila, post-it® notes were canary yellow and binders were something to hide in the cabinet, russell+hazel achieved a new freshness with color and pattern, creating an instant appeal. Duff formed the famed Charm City Cakes in Baltimore in 2000 – a 6,000 square-foot cake compound with a staff of eleven friends who make cakes, listen to music, and eat a lot of sushi. In June 2011, he opened a new West Coast bakery in Santa Monica, California. Together they bake sculptural cakes that truly amaze. After starring in Ace of Cakes on the Food Network for 10 seasons, cake “ace” Duff stars in a new show, Sugar High, also on the Food Network.
